Clinical performance in secondary screening
Nov. 2008: New article from England (Szarewski A et al.)
In an article recently published in the scientific magazine Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, PreTect HPV-Proofer is compared to many alternative diagnostic tests in a study population of 953 women.
This is a triage study looking at the clinical performance of the different tests in secondary screening, i.e. on a study population consisting of cytologically abnormal women.
In triage high clinical specificity is crucial to avoid treatment based on false positive results. In this study PreTect HPV-Proofer has the significant highest specificity of all tests, 73 %, compared to HPV-DNA tests having specificity figures as low as 22 %.
This article further substantiates previously published clinical results showing superior clinical specificity of PreTect HPV-Proofer compared to HPV-DNA tests in triage of cytologically abnormal women.
