Products PreTect HPV-Proofer A diagnostic test detecting the expression of E6/E7 mRNA coding for the HPV proteins E6/E7 from the HPV types HPV 16, HPV 18, HPV 31, HPV 33, and HPV 45.
Published studies from cancer patient research show that PreTect HPV-Proofer has the same sensitivity towards invasive cervical cancer as compared to competing tests (usually called DNA-tests). PreTect HPV-Proofer is more accurate and gives fewer false positive results reducing the high rate of women referred to further unnecessary investigations. Since 2005 PreTect HPV-Proofer has been applied in follow-up of women having the cytological diagnosis ASC-US and LSIL (also called triage). The E6/E7 proteins from the HPV virus has since the early 90's been regarded as the main cause of cervical cancer development. If E6/E7 mRNA is present in cervix there is an elevated risk of severe dysplasia or worse.
To enable nucleic acid analysis of cervical cell samples, the sample has to be stored and preserved appropriately using a suitable transport liquid. We have developed PreTect TM focusing on a cost effective and optimal storage and preservation of e.g. cervical cell samples. PreTect TM is excellent for storing and preserving mRNA.
